Bullish Bulls take a point off Crawley
Promotion-chasing Crawley fought back to claim a point in a 1-1 draw against a determined and battling Hereford side at Edgar Street.
On-loan midfielder Tom Barkhuizen put Hereford in front after only eight minutes with his fifth goal of the season. But Crawley piled on the pressure to level in the 41st minute with a long drive from Andy Drury.
Hereford swept into the lead in the eighth minute when Barkhuizen beat goalkeeper Scott Shearer with a low shot from 10 yards after being put clear by Simon Clist.
Crawley responded with Scott Neilson shooting straight at Hereford goalkeeper David Cornell from 20 yards, and striker John Akinde also failed to find the target when he drove the ball past the Hereford far post in the 23rd minute.
Hereford midfielder Harry Pell also made a timely clearance to clear a powerful cross from Matt Tubbs as the Red Devils swept forward. Crawley kept the pressure on, with Dannie Bulman driving a 25-yard shot inches over the crossbar.
Full-back Joe Heath cleared off the Hereford goal line as Crawley continued to pile on the pressure, and the Red Devils levelled four minutes before the break when Drury let rip with a powerful 20-yard drive past Cornell.
Straight after the restart Barkhuizen broke clear of the Crawley defence but miscued his shot with only Shearer to beat. Hereford keeper Cornell blocked a close-range shot from Akinde, who also cleared the bar from a Crawley corner, while Hope Akpan shot inches wide.
