Crawley edge closer to survivalCrawley took a big step towards ensuring League One survival with a 2-0 home victory over relegation threatened Tranmere.Goals in each half from Matt Tubbs and Gwion Edwards left Rovers three points above the drop zone with four games remaining.Keeper Paul Jones, making his 100th consecutive appearance for Crawley, came to his side's rescue early on by diving to keep out a goal-bound header from defender Matthew Pennington.Midfielder Mike Jones put a deflected shot over for Crawley before top scorer Tubbs shot wide following a cross by skipper Josh Simpson.Rovers midfielder Max Power tried his luck from 30 yards on the half hour and his low drive bounced before Jones saved on the goal-line.Crawley broke the deadlock eight minutes before the break with a tremendous 25-yard free-kick from Tubbs into the top corner after a needless foul by Power on Jamie Proctor.Rovers striker Jake Cassidy got clean through on goal nine minutes after the interval but Jones spread himself to make an important save.Power was off target with a drive for Rovers before visiting keeper Owain Fon Williams held a testing corner from Andy Drury.Substitute Edwards, on loan from Swansea, settled the outcome on his Crawley debut by seizing onto a through ball from Gary Dicker to slot the ball into an empty net four minutes from time
