Crawley Town 0-3 Barnet- Match Report

John Akinde bags a brace for Barnet as Crawley lose again

Former Crawley striker John Akinde scored twice as Barnet secured a comfortable 3-0 victory at Crawley, who end their Sky Bet League Two campaign with an eight straight defeat.

New Crawley head coach Dermot Drummy could not stop the rot in his first home game since replacing Mark Yates in the dugout.

Elliott Johnson opened the scoring in the first half before Akinde struck twice in the second as Barnet ended the campaign in 15th, five places and 15 points better off than their opponents.

Crawley, who have just two home wins since Boxing Day, came close to taking the lead early on when Sonny Bradley's header was cleared off the line following a corner by Jimmy Smith.

Bobson Bawling then should have done better when he put an angled shot wide after being set up by Gavin Tomlin.

Crawley continued to pose danger and Barnet goalkeeper Jamie Stephens prevented and own goal by saving from team-mate Michael Gash before Barnet broke the deadlock six minutes before the break.

Defende Johnson rifled his first goal of the season from 25 yards after a long throw was headed into his path by Bradley.

The visitors should have doubled their lead on the hour when Gash missed a teasing low cross from Akinde.

Akinde did make it 2-0 12 minutes from time by slotting into the bottom left corner after a pass from substitute Justin Nwogu.

And Akinde sealed victory with his second goal in the last minute with a clever chip over Jack Rose following a clearance by Barnet keeper Jamie Stephens.
