Woozley strikes to claim point

Last updated : 23 January 2007 By Chris Laker
An 89th minute leveller from joint-player-manager David Woozley gave gutsy Reds a share of the spoils.

High-flying Gravesend were by far the better side in the first half but failed to really trouble Reds goalkeeper Ben Hamer, despite the home side going down to ten men after midfielder Scott Marshall was shown the red card for an incident involving Fleet's Rob Quinn.

Gravesend broke the deadlock midway through the second period when Woozley's poor clearance fell to ex-Red Charlie MacDonald, who smashed home past Hamer.

Crawley continued to battle and again looked much improved with the introductions of Tony Scully and Marcus Richardson off the substitutes bench.

Their efforts were rewarded when Woozley stayed calm to fire in from Lee Blackburn's inswinging free-kick.

To cap a miserable end for the visitors, another ex-Red, Sacha Opinel saw red for a second bookable offence.
