A tough pre-season's training has left Crawley Town's players fit and ready for their first match of the season, according to midfielder Josh Simpson. The Reds welcome AFC Wimbledon to the Broadfield Stadium in the preliminary round of the Carling Cup on Friday.
The 24-year-old told BBC Sussex: "We've been working really hard in pre-season, we're all looking very fit.
"We've added new players to the squad and we have gelled well. We're all biting at the bit to get a start."
The former Peterborough midfielder believes Crawley can draw on their experience from their run to the fifth round of the FA Cup last season.
"We had some big games last season against the likes of Manchester United, Swindon and Derby County," he said.
"It's going to be a good game I'm sure. There's a big prize on offer at the end of it against Crystal Palace."
